Ray Emodi, a popular Nollywood actor, has announced his exit from the film industry to focus on a music career. In an Instagram video message, Emodi cited traumatic experiences on movie sets and pressure from his family as key factors behind the decision.
The actor revealed he had filmed in dangerous environments, including a town affected by violence where gunshots were heard during production. “I have stopped acting in films. I quit… I shot a film in a town that I won’t mention, but we were literally hearing gunshots,” he said.
Emodi explained that concerns about his mental well-being drove the decision, despite it coming with significant consequences, including disapproval from his family. “My family does not support this… I respect their decision, and I won’t do anything that would bring any stain to the name,” he added.
The actor expressed his passion for music, stating, “I love music. I make good music. I want you guys to come with me on this journey… I am just going to make music.” Emodi thanked Nollywood fans for their support, assuring them he’s not leaving the industry entirely, just shifting focus.
