The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has raised concerns about the serial executive and judicial fraud being perpetrated against him since his extraordinary rendition in 2021. In an open letter addressed to Nigerians, Kanu highlighted several instances of what he described as fraudulent actions by the government and the judiciary.

A Federal High Court declared his extraordinary rendition and detention as unconstitutional and ordered the government to apologize to him and pay him compensation.

The Court of Appeal also ruled that the government had acted unlawfully in his abduction and detention, but the government refused to release him.

Kanu expressed his concerns about the judiciary’s role in perpetuating the alleged fraud, stating that the courts have failed to uphold the law and justice in his case. He cited instances where judges have made rulings that seem to favor the government, despite the law being on his side.

The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has reiterated his call for Kanu’s release, describing it as “the right thing to do.” Mbah noted that his administration has worked to restore normalcy in Enugu State, where a sit-at-home order was previously enforced on Mondays due to Kanu’s incarceration.

The controversy surrounding Kanu’s detention has sparked a national debate about the rule of law, justice, and human rights. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether the government will take steps to address Kanu’s grievances and release him from detention.
