Nigeria: Middle East War: No distress calls from Nigerians in Iran

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has stated that it has not received any distress calls from Nigerians residing in Iran amidst the ongoing hostilities between Iran and the US-Israel alliance. The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation, considering evacuation options for stranded Nigerians.
The conflict has spread to Lebanon, with Hezbollah targeting a British air base in Cyprus.
Iran has struck major gas plants in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, disrupting operations.
The US and allies have condemned Iran’s attacks, reserving the right to self-defense. Oil prices have surged, with Nigeria’s Bonny Light hitting $80 per barrel.
The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) has protested the attack on Iran, calling for global condemnation of foreign intervention.
The Polish Ambassador to Nigeria has urged caution, advocating for dialogue over confrontation.
NiDCOM requires formal requests from affected Nigerians and government approval for evacuation.
The Federal Government is exploring options for chartering aircraft and setting up a rescue committee.
