Nigeria: Middle East war escalates: Israel strikes Beirut

The Iran-Israel conflict has entered its seventh day, with Israel launching strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and warning residents to evacuate immediately. The Israeli military has announced a “next phase” in the conflict, with additional surprises ahead.
The war has spread across the Middle East, with attacks reported in Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, and the Gulf monarchies. Lebanon has been dragged into the conflict, with at least 123 people killed and 683 wounded since Monday. Iran has vowed to retaliate against Israel, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stating that Tehran has not sought a ceasefire and will not negotiate with the US.
Australia and Canada have deployed military assets to the region.Gulf monarchies, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, have been targeted by Iranian attacks.
US President Donald Trump has dismissed Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Iranian supreme leader, as a potential successor, citing him as “unacceptable”. Trump has threatened more war if a suitable alternative is not found.
The conflict has caused widespread destruction and displacement, with thousands fleeing their homes. The situation remains volatile, with fears of further escalation.
