Nigeria: Liverpool man faces new charges over football parade crash

A British man, Paul Doyle, accused of driving his vehicle into crowds celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title win, faces an additional 24 criminal charges. Doyle, 53, appeared tearful in court via videolink from prison, where he is being held.
The incident occurred on 14 August 2025, when Doyle allegedly drove his Ford Galaxy Titanium into crowds leaving Liverpool’s waterfront after a victory parade. According to Merseyside Police reported that 134 people were injured, including 29 victims aged between six months and 77 years old.
The police initially charged Doyle with seven offenses, including dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He now faces a total of 31 charges, including 19 counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, three counts of wounding with intent, and one count of affray.
During the court hearing, Doyle did not enter any pleas. Judge Andrew Menary adjourned the case until September 4, when Doyle is expected to enter pleas. A provisional trial date has been fixed for November 24, with the case expected to last three to four weeks.
