Nigeria: Kano State Police arrest suspected vehicle thief

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Ya’u Inuwa, in connection with a stolen vehicle from the Kano State Government House. The vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux attached to the Governor’s Advance Teams, was reported missing on November 11, 2025.
According to Abdullahi Haruna, spokesperson of the command, the suspect, a 50-year-old driver at the Government House, confessed to conspiring with two other individuals, who are currently at large, to commit the crime.
The police commissioner, CP Ibrahim Bakori, had ordered the closure of all entry and exit points of the state and directed that the vehicle be recovered and those involved be arrested. The vehicle was recovered in Unguwa Uku, Yan Awaki Quarters, Kano, and is currently in police custody.
The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the other suspects involved in the theft.
