Nigeria: Iran fires missiles at Israel after Trump threatens strikes
By Zuleihat Owuiye, Mamos Nigeria
Iran has fired missiles at Israel after US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb the Islamic republic into the “Stone Ages” with heavy strikes in the next two to three weeks. The US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which started on February 28, have killed senior officials, including supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Trump warned Iran to engage in talks to end the Middle East war, saying the US would protect its allies, including Israel and Gulf nations, from Iranian retaliatory fire. Iran has dismissed Washington’s ceasefire overtures, describing US demands as “maximalist and irrational”.
The conflict has led to chaos in global markets, with oil prices surging. The Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway, has been effectively blocked by Iran, and the US is seeking to reopen it.
