Nigeria: Four‑year‑old, mother, 12 others survive Lagos auto crash

Lagos, Feb 19, 2026 — A four‑year‑old boy, his mother, and twelve other passengers narrowly escaped death on Wednesday when a fully loaded Mazda commercial bus (AKD 509 XL) overturned on Coaster Road, opposite Lafiaji inward Okun Ajay, Lagos.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as severe, with the vehicle somersaulting violently before coming to rest on its side, trapping occupants inside. Many onlookers called the survival of the young child, his mother, and the other passengers “divine intervention.”
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) personnel quickly arrived at the scene, extricating the injured and coordinating emergency medical evacuations. The child, his mother, and two other casualties were rushed to Mother and Child Hospital, Abraham Adesanya, while the remaining injured passengers were taken to nearby health facilities with assistance from Good Samaritans.
The cause of the accident remains unknown. The incident has been handed over to the Abraham Adesanya Police Division for investigation.
