The family of 14-year-old Mubarak Sanyaolu, who was allegedly killed by a stray bullet in
Lagos in 2025, has raised the alarm over the mysterious disappearance of his body from the
Lagos Mainland Hospital mortuary. The police had deposited the corpse in the mortuary for
investigation, but the family claims that the facility cannot provide the corpse for burial.
Mubarak’s father, Olamilekan, expressed shock and grief over the disappearance of his son’s
body, stating that he had been patiently waiting for the police to conclude their investigation.

He presented a police clearance to retrieve the body on February 27 but the morgue attendants
disclosed that the corpse was no longer there and might have been discarded for a mass burial.
The family’s lawyer, Olalekan Matti, has written to the hospital, demanding details of the mass
burial, including the date, location, and other relevant information. However, the hospital has yet
to respond to the request.

The family is seeking justice and closure, calling on the police and the hospital to provide
answers about the disappearance of Mubarak’s body.
