Nigeria: Ex-Kano governor Kabiru Gaya resigns from APC

Former Kano State Governor, Kabiru Gaya, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a letter addressed to the ward chairman, Gaya Arewa, in Gaya Local Government Area, Kano State, Gaya cited personal convictions and the best interests of his constituents as reasons for his departure.
Gaya, who served as Senator representing Kano South from 2015 to 2023, expressed gratitude for the opportunities and support he received during his tenure. He stated, “I hereby formally tender my resignation from the All Progressive Congress (APC) effective today, 8thApril 2026.
The resignation comes amid speculation about Gaya’s future political plans, with some suggesting he may join another party.
