Nigeria: Cultists kill FUO graduate in Bayelsa

By Zuleihat Owuiye, Mamos Nigeria

On Monday, a graduate of the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, was shot dead in a suspected cult clash. The victim, identified as Mark, was reportedly hit in the stomach during a confrontation between members of the Neo‑Black Movement (popularly known as Black Axe) and Vikings (DNKI).

According to a university source, Mark was not the intended target. Black Axe hitmen missed their primary victim and opened fire on Mark instead. Friends scrambled to rush him to hospital, but their vehicle hit a speed bump, causing an accident that sealed his fate. Colleagues described Mark as calm, friendly and focused on making money; he avoided trouble, often advised peers against cultism and wasn’t known to be involved in any cult activities. One friend noted that Vikings had warned him to leave the area.
