Nigeria: Bauchi police neutralize bandits, recover AK-49 rifle

The Bauchi State Police Command has intensified its efforts to secure the state’s borders, particularly in the Gwana district and surrounding areas of Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe states. In a recent tactical operation conducted in collaboration with special hunters, the police successfully neutralized two bandits and recovered an AK-49 assault rifle.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the operation was initiated by the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters after gathering credible intelligence and leveraging community networks. The police engaged in surveillance activities in the Dajin Madan Forest, which led to an encounter with suspected bandits. During the engagement, two bandits were neutralized, and additional assailants reportedly fled into nearby bushes.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of nine rounds of live ammunition. The police force has reiterated its commitment to combating banditry and enhancing public safety across the state. 

The Nigeria Police Force is working closely with community stakeholders to protect citizens’ lives and property while holding accountable those involved in criminal activities.
