Nigeria: APC downplays Oyo crisis, calls it ‘normal banter’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns over reported tensions within the party in Oyo State, saying the situation is nothing to worry about. APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the developments as “normal banter” among party members vying for positions.
Morka explained that disagreements are expected in a party of APC’s size, especially with multiple aspirants jostling for positions. He emphasized that the party follows clearly defined procedures and that payments made by aspirants are voluntary.
Regarding the N5.1 million reportedly paid by aspirant Fubara Dagogo, Morka said the party remains open to addressing concerns raised by members, including issues related to payments. He added that the forthcoming APC convention will showcase party unity and present its direction to Nigerians.
Some stakeholders, however, have expressed concerns over internal divisions within the Oyo APC, alleging manipulation and lack of transparency. They have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and save the party from potential electoral setbacks.
