The Plateau State Police Command has arraigned 22 suspects in connection with the brutal killing of 13 wedding guests in Mangu Local Government Area. The incident occurred on July 11, 2025, when a bus carrying passengers from Kaduna State was attacked by a mob, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.

The victims, traveling to attend a wedding ceremony in Qua’an Pan LGA, lost their way and inadvertently entered Mangun village, where they were attacked by an angry mob.

13 people were killed, and several others sustained injuries.

The police command swiftly responded to the incident, deploying personnel and operational assets to the scene, which led to the arrest of 22 suspects.

The police conducted a thorough investigation, deploying men from the State Intelligence Department, State CID, and Tactical Teams to intensify investigations and apprehend more suspects.

The suspects were arraigned before Justice Boniface Ngyon at the Plateau State High Court.

The defense counsel objected to the plea application, citing that two of the suspects were minors, aged 13 and 17.

Justice Ngyon ruled that an amended plea would be taken, excluding the minors, and adjourned the case to allow the prosecution to amend the charges.
