The National Assembly Member (NAM) for Foni Bintang Karanai, Hon. Bakary K. Badjie has announced his willingness to contest in the upcoming presidential election due in 2026.

Speaking in a presser at the GTUCCU Conference Hall in Brikama, Badjie said: “We are the custodian of our votes, let us rise up and vote for the people who can defend the interest of the nation wholeheartedly. I call you all for us to join hands together for us to unite beyond reasonable doubt because our nation deserves better.”

Hon. Badjie promised to prioritize key sectors including education, health, agriculture and security.

“Our agriculture sector has become the consumer organ of the state instead of producing, they are the ones consuming. We want our agriculture sector to be the producer,” he argued.

“I stand before you with courage and confident that The Gambia deserves better and The Gambia can make it better, The Gambia can achieve better. As a patriotic citizen, I am propelled by my duty, I am propelled by my consent that the mantle of leadership must change and the change is now or never,” he stated.
