Is Elon Musk intentionally driving the value of Tesla down right now?

Some say that Elon Musk is intentionally driving the value of Tesla down right now — but if this were true, he wouldn’t be doing that weird commercial in front of the White House with Trump, which cost him $100 million (Musk promised to donate that much to Trump’s organizations).

After a brief lump — following the White House car yard stunt – the Tesla stock resumed its fall.

London underground.

Congratulations to all Republicans who purchased their brand-new Teslas, following the Trump’s order — the resale value is abhorrent.

Trump orders his minions: “Donate to Elon!” — and they rush to confirm their sycophancy. Good move, guys, very good move.

Trump’s hostile actions threatening to annex Canada and Greenland and introducing tariffs against Europe and Canada, starting a trade war, are quickly turning former allies of America to her most fervent opposition.

It’s one thing being wary of your long-term enemy — and a completely different thing to be betrayed by your closest friend, who knows all your secrets and weaknesses.

In the past month, Tesla stock lost 26% of its value.

All of which, without a doubt, thanks to actions of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Musk used to be a great PR figure for Tesla brand — but now he’s becoming toxic to its image.

Some analysts say the brand value was overinflated and the correction was inevitable.

  • Tesla sold only 7,517 vehicles in Europe in January 2025 — half of what it sold in January 2024.
  • This happened as sales of electric and hybrid vehicles actually went up in the E.U.
  • In Germany — the country where Musk openly tried to interfere in elections (unsuccessfully), shilling for the ultra-right AfD party, sales of Tesla dropped by whopping 70%.

Yes, Elon Musk is ruining the value of Tesla stock.

And it definitely can get worse for Tesla stock holders, as Musk’s policies are proving extremely unpopular in the U.S. itself, with thousands of government workers getting fired via email and cuts to social security and Medicaid raising massive concerns, as they will affect the most vulnerable.

The ripples of abrupt cuts to U.S. government aid programs are affecting thousands of American businesses as well, who suddenly lose their major income stream.

Musk isn’t just ruining Tesla stock with his actions — he’s tearing the very fabric of the American society and the values that the U.S. were promoting worldwide, taking a sharp turn from the values-based approach to policies towards the interests-based “extreme capitalism” approach.

Tesla isn’t the best electric car on the market — the value of the brand was based in a great extent on Musk’s own image as an innovator and a progressive, and cheered by the liberal-democratic strata of early adopters — definitely not the audience that supports ultra-right reactionary views.

Now, Musk is seen as a ruthless oligarch, cutting food aid to hungry children, while advocating trillions in tax cuts to billionaires and stealing commercial contracts from his rivals, abusing his position in the government.

By extension, Tesla is now the image of ruthless capitalism, advocating for oppression of these who can’t defend themselves.

If it’s not about values, but about money — then there are much cheaper alternatives to Tesla.

Tesla brand is now tarnished forever.
