GPF collaborates with Turkish trainers for POM training

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) yesterday welcomed three Turkish trainers at the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) Headquarters for a five-day intensive training on Public Order Management (POM) for PIU officers.
The training commenced on the 19th March and is expected to end on 23rd March. It is aimed to equip the security personnel with skills and knowledge on Public Order Management.
In his opening remarks, CP Famara Jobarteh, from the International Affairs Unit emphasized the strong partnership between Turkey and the GPF. He noted that the training is one of many initiatives supported by Turkey.
He urged participants to take the training seriously, noting that it aligns with the GPF’s strategic priorities.
Colonel Albay Volkan Karanli, the Turkish Security Liaison Officer at the Turkish Embassy in Banjul, thanked the Police Command for the warm reception and urged participants to benefit from the trainers’ expertise. He reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting the GPF’s reform agenda.
The Commissioner of Police for PIU, CP Basangeh, expressed gratitude to the Turkish Government, while urging participants to remain dedicated, and assured the trainers of the PIU’s commitment to the program.
