The news that Ousman Jobarteh, Managing Director of the Gambia Ports Authority, has finally been charged exposes exactly how this system works.

“The state has finally decided to charge the Managing Director of the Gambia Ports Authority, Ousman Jobarteh, with economic crimes involving more than D20 million. He is expected to be arraigned before the High Court alongside several members of his staff.

Shortly after the decision was communicated on Tuesday, Jobarteh took casual leave and travelled to Dakar, where he claims to be receiving medical treatment.” What’s On – Gambia reports!

Alleged corruption write ups for years by What’s On-Gambia , and others had his name plastered all over yet nothing happened.

All along, they knew he was his role but turned a blind eye , as long as he was protecting their interests his safety was guaranteed .

The minute he touched the wrong people, Alport rek! He refused to give collateral, the letter leaked, and all of a sudden protection vanished! Jaharang!!

This is a perfect demonstration of how a Mafia Government operates: Recruit! Corrupt! Shield! Punish! and when you cross the inner circle, you’re done.

To those who have been complicit,

This is your warning. The Mafia Government Model protects you while you serve it, but that protection will end.

The choice is very simple:

Submit to accountability now, or be prepared to face it later, either from citizens fighting for justice, from the same corrupt apparatus that once protected you or ultimately from our maker.

Again the lesson is very simple:

Don’t sell your integrity for temporary protection. In a Mafia Government, loyalty only lasts until you say “no” or appear to be uncomfortable with the instructions.

If the Mafia doesn’t get you, the people will. This is how they get our people and sometimes as in Jobarteh our brilliant minds. Shame!!!
