D1.7B Diplomat Twin Towers officially opens
The skyline of The Gambia has taken a striking new shape with the official inauguration of the Diplomat Twin Towers, a landmark development President Adama Barrow described as a clear symbol of progress, ambition, and national transformation.
Speaking at the ceremony, the president said the unveiling of the towers goes beyond opening a building, calling it a reflection of a country steadily turning vision into reality. “Once dismissed by some as overly ambitious, the project now stands as what he termed a success story, proof that identifying opportunities and acting on them can deliver results that exceed expectations.”
“Valued at about one billion, seven hundred million dalasis, the development is designed to accommodate over five hundred occupants. It features more than ninety apartments alongside a multi-level commercial complex, bringing together residential, business, and lifestyle spaces in one location. The design, he noted, responds directly to the needs of a growing urban population and the demand for secure, modern work and living environments.”
The president highlighted that the project has already generated over one thousand jobs and will continue to create employment opportunities during its operation. He urged support for such investments, noting their dual impact of beautifying the country while sustaining livelihoods.
The towers include a gymnasium and IT hub, with plans underway for an advanced medical facility and a water treatment plant, positioning the site as a future-ready hub for innovation and productivity. President Barrow said the development aligns with the government’s YIRIWA National Development Plan, which prioritises infrastructure, private sector growth, and job creation.
Delivering her remarks, Fatim Badjie, CEO of ACE Communications Executive, described the project as the outcome of a nine-year journey rooted in faith, persistence, and bold thinking. She said the idea was born from a desire to create modern, shared corporate spaces at a time when most businesses operated from scattered and rented premises.
Today, she said, the towers stands as proof that The Gambia is ready for such developments and that the demand for modern, vertical business environments is real. She also announced the creation of Khidra Developments to manage the facility and drive similar projects.
Badjie dedicated the building to her father, Ambassador Dembo Mankamang Badjie, crediting his lifelong service and values as inspiration behind the vision.
Representing Swami International, Mr. Khimji V. Pindoria, praised the country’s stable environment for investment, noting that the project reflects strong confidence in The Gambia’s future. He revealed that the residential units are fully occupied, with only limited commercial space remaining.
As the ceremony closed, President Barrow urged Gambians, especially the youth, to take initiative and pursue opportunities with determination, stressing that developments like the Diplomat show what is possible when belief meets action.
