Ayodeji Moses-Ojo, a 39-year-old father of two, is fighting for his life after a horrific workplace accident left him with a broken jaw, fractured limbs, and severe burns. The incident happened while he was installing a billboard along Agege Road in Lagos for an outdoor advertising agency based in Lekki.

Ayodeji was thrown off the billboard after an electric surge from a high-tension cable coursed through his body. Rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), doctors confirmed multiple fractures and life-threatening injuries. His medical bills were estimated at 10 million but his employer’s promise of support quickly crumbled.

“At first, my boss promised to cover the costs,”_ Ayodeji recounted, struggling to speak through his fractured jaw. _”But they capped it at ₦3 million. When it ran out, they stopped calling. I’ve spent my savings, my wife’s business earnings, and borrowed from friends. I have nothing left.”_

His wife, Alice, a Point-of-Sale operator, added: _”We’ve spent another ₦3 million of our own. His jaw needs surgery, his leg has iron rods, and burns cover his back. A nurse visits weekly for ₦50,000. We need help.”

Vanguard contacted Ayodeji’s boss, Mr. Nosa Kaye, but he didn’t respond. A colleague, “Temi,” claimed Kaye was abroad and would address the issue upon return.

The family urges Nigerians to support Ayodeji’s recovery. _”He had dreams for his children, aged 5 and 2. We’re not asking for much—just a chance for him to live again,”_ Alice said, fighting tears.
