The Nigeria senior women’s cricket team, Female Yellow Greens, has had its squad trimmed from 22 to 18 players as the team prepares for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers in Namibia. Head coach Leke Oyede dropped four players, including Deborah Bassey, Habibat Oremeyi, Ayomide Abdulrasaq, and Rukayat Abdulrasaq.
The remaining 18 players will resume closed camping in Lagos on Saturday, July 26, before the final 15-player roster is released. The team will face stiff competition at the qualifiers, where they will battle Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, and two other teams from Division 2.
The top two teams from the Africa Qualifiers will advance to the global qualifiers, which will be played later in the year. The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in England. The Female Yellow Greens are determined to make a mark in the tournament and are working hard to fine-tune their skills and strategy.
