Nigeria: Chidinma Ojukwu testifies in murder trial of Super TV CEO Michael Ataga

Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the murder of Super TV Chief Executive Officer Michael Ataga, testified before a Lagos High Court on Friday According to Chidinma, she discovered Ataga’s lifeless body in a Lekki short-let apartment on after returning from buying food and juice.

Chidinma told the court that she had knocked on the apartment door and, receiving no response, pushed it open to find blood on the floor and Ataga lying in a pool of blood. “I dropped everything and rushed to him,” she said. “His eyes were half-shut and he had no pulse.” Chidinma is standing trial for murder, conspiracy to murder, and stealing, alongside co-defendants Adedapo Quadri and her sister, Chioma Egbuchu.

During her testimony, Chidinma detailed her relationship with Ataga, which began in November 2025 through a mutual friend. She described Ataga as kind and supportive, stating that he paid her school fees and financially supported her cosmetics business. Chidinma testified that Ataga invited her to spend time with him ahead of his birthday celebration on and they booked a short-let apartment in Lekki.

Chidinma recounted the events leading up to the discovery of Ataga’s body, including their activities. She stated that Ataga requested cannabis and Rohypnol, which she arranged to be delivered to the apartment.  Chidinma said she went out to buy food and juice, and upon returning to the apartment, found Ataga’s lifeless body.

Chidinma testified that she panicked and wiped blood off her arm, changed into a black top over her red blouse, and packed her belongings. She took a brown envelope containing documents, including Ataga’s bank statements, ID cards, and business cards, and left the apartment.

Following her testimony, Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourned the case until April 28, 2025, for the continuation of the trial. Chidinma’s testimony provides a detailed account of her relationship with Ataga and the events leading up to the discovery of his body.
