Nigeria: Katsina police command seizes 2,084 Tramadol sachets, arrests suspects

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully recovered 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets worth N3.5m from two suspected drug dealers. According to DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the arrest is part of the command’s efforts to curb substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the state.
On April 20, 2025, operatives of the command traced and arrested Murtala Salisu, a 27-year-old man from Bare-bari village, Safana LGA, Katsina State, in possession of the suspected tramadol tablets. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having obtained the illicit drugs from a person in Nassarawa State and implicated his accomplice, Tanimu Abubakar from Jibia LGA, Katsina State.
The suspects were arrested and confessed to the commission of the offense. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to uncover more information about the illicit drug trade in the state. The Katsina State Police Command has urged members of the public to continue supporting the command with valuable and timely information to aid in the fight against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.
