The Soil Solution calls for Agricultural investment

The Soil Solution-The Gambia has called on all Gambians to invest in agriculture to enhance food security and national development.
In an Independence Celebration Message, the Executive Director of The Soil Solution-The Gambia, Ebrima Jarra said: “On this Independence Day, I call upon our youth, policymakers, and development partners to invest in agriculture not just as a profession but as a national duty.”
“Let us reclaim our food sovereignty, empower our farmers with scientific knowledge, and make agriculture the engine of our economic growth.”
He added: “Together, we can build a self-sufficient Gambia where every citizen has access to affordable and nutritious food. Our independence was hard-won, let us now fight for economic independence through sustainable agriculture.”
“As we celebrate 60 years of independence, we honor the resilience, strength, and unity of our people. Our journey has been one of progress and challenges, and this milestone is a testament to the unwavering spirit of our nation.”
However, he said The Gambia must confront the current economic realities.
“The volatility of commodity prices, rising food costs, and increasing dependency on imports threaten our national food security,” he said.
“These challenges remind us of a fundamental truth: our greatest wealth lies beneath our feet, our soil.”
“The path forward is clear. We must return to our farms, not just as a means of survival but as a strategic response to economic instability.”
“With informed soil management practices, we can increase productivity, restore degraded lands, and build a resilient agricultural sector.”
“Our research and soil restoration efforts at The Soil Solution have demonstrated that with proper soil health management, we can transform unproductive lands into fertile grounds that sustain livelihoods and boost food production.”
