Taxpayers cannot be made to pay for NPP/APRC Election Campaigning
by Ndey Jobarteh
The National Assembly needs to clarify this urgently.
Parliament approved D50 million for the 2026 Meet the People’s Tour.
Kiang West MP Lamin Ceesay says D75 million had already been spent by June/July, excluding the current tour.
Now Central Badibou MP Sulayman Saho alleges that another D70 million was withdrawn from the Central Bank for the ongoing tour.
My questions to the National Assembly and FPAC are simple:
Is the alleged D70 million part of the D75 million already reported, or is it additional?
If D75 million had already been spent against an approved D50 million budget, who authorised the excess expenditure?
And most importantly: can Parliament publish or demand the full expenditure breakdown and supporting documents?
These are public funds. The figures must be reconciled.
