Jazmyne Wike, daughter of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.

Jazmyne earned an LL.B. (Hons) with Upper Second-Class Honours after completing her law programme at the British university.

Photos from the graduation ceremony shared online showed her in academic robes celebrating the milestone with family and friends.

The achievement has drawn congratulatory messages from relatives, friends, and well-wishers, many of whom praised her hard work and academic dedication.

The University of Southampton is a member of the Russell Group and is ranked among the UK’s leading institutions for law. An Upper Second-Class degree, commonly referred to as a “2:1”, is considered a strong academic classification in the British system and is often required for entry into further legal training.

For the Wike family, the graduation marks another academic milestone. Supporters described it as the start of a new chapter as Jazmyne begins the next phase of her legal career.

Nyesom Wike, who was appointed FCT Minister in 2023, has consistently emphasized the importance of education.

With her UK law degree, Jazmyne now has the option to pursue further legal qualifications, including the Bar or Solicitors Qualifying Examination if she intends to practice in the UK, or to return to Nigeria to proceed with the Nigerian Law School.

The graduation comes at a time of increased public interest in the academic achievements of children of public office holders studying abroad.
