Two Nigerian men living in Ghana are set to face trial after being accused of killing a fellow Nigerian, identified as 36-year-old Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze.

The suspects, Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were arrested by police in Ghana’s Northern Region after the victim was found dead in his home in Sanzirigu, a community in Tamale.

According to investigators, the victim lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects, and another Nigerian, Godwin Nwafor.

Police said they launched an investigation after receiving a report that the victim had been discovered lying in a pool of blood inside his bedroom. Officers who arrived at the scene found that he had suffered a deep wound to the forehead, while a towel had been forced into his mouth.

The room also appeared to have been searched or disturbed.

The victim’s body was taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead before being transferred to the mortuary for an autopsy.

During their investigation, detectives recovered a wooden pestle believed to have been used in the attack, along with other items for forensic examination.

Authorities said the two suspects were arrested the same day near the Tatale border while allegedly attempting to flee into neighbouring Togo.

Police claimed that during questioning, the suspects admitted to planning the killing after accusing the victim of withholding money allegedly obtained through internet fraud.

A search carried out after their arrest led to the recovery of several items believed to have been taken from the victim’s room, including mobile phones, laptops, a tablet, jewellery, wristwatches, clothing, personal documents and other valuables.

The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear in court as investigations continue. Ghanaian authorities say efforts are ongoing to ensure that everyone connected to the case is brought to justice.
