GNOC Sports Administration Course leaves lasting impact on journalists

Banjul The Gambia , May 22, 2026 – Several Gambian sports journalists have expressed gratitude and excitement following the successful completion of the five-day Sports Administrators Course organised by the Gambia National Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia.

The course, held from 18th to 22nd May 2026 at Olympic House, brought together 25 selected journalists and media practitioners to enhance their knowledge in sports governance, Olympism, sports science, institutional management, and Olympic values.

Journalist Ebrima Sonko described the training as a valuable experience that will greatly benefit him both as a journalist and sports teacher. He thanked SJAG for the opportunity and said the course deepened his understanding of sports administration and the role of sports in national development.

Sainabou Marenah also expressed delight after completing the programme, calling it an incredible opportunity to gain more knowledge on Olympic matters, sports governance, sports science, and institutional management.

Salieu Jallow thanked both GNOC and SJAG for organising what he described as an inspiring programme that broadened his understanding of Olympic values and sports management.

Kassim Sisoho praised the initiative as an important step towards sports development in The Gambia, noting that the training enhanced his understanding of GNOC operations, IOC values, safeguarding athletes, sports social media, and environmental protection.

Meanwhile, Musa Molloh TV CEO Mamadi Jallow expressed gratitude to SJAG and GNOC for the opportunity to participate in the course. He highlighted that the training equipped him with international standards in Olympic values, sports medicine, governance, excellence, respect, and integrity, which are essential for quality sports reporting.

The CEO of Space TV also celebrated completing the programme, thanking SJAG leadership for the opportunity and appreciating the experiences shared throughout the training.

The reactions from participants reflect the growing impact of sports education and capacity-building initiatives spearheaded by the Gambia National Olympic Committee in strengthening sports journalism and administration in the county.
