Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on Defence Minister General Christopher Musa to take immediate action following the March 27 attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, which killed over 30 people, mostly Christian worshippers. In a statement, she condemned the killings, expressing disappointment at the gap between Musa’s assurances during his Senate screening and ongoing security failures.
“Dear General Christopher Musa, Angwan Rukuba is another brutal reminder that Nigerians remain unprotected. During your screening at the Senate chambers, your words were filled with promises, and I allowed myself a sigh of relief,” she wrote. Akpoti-Uduaghan warned, “Well, prove now you are different and secure lives, or step aside. Enough of condolences. Enough of excuses. Nigerians want action, protection, and results!”
The attack has intensified calls for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s security framework, with residents demanding justice for the victims and measures to prevent future attacks. The incident highlights concerns about the government’s ability to safeguard lives and property in insecure regions.
