Nigeria: Delta police cracks down on crime: over 270 suspects arrested, drugs seized

The Delta State Police Command has arrested over 270 criminal suspects and recovered large quantities of drugs in coordinated raids across Warri, Uvwie, Jeddo, and Ughelli. The operations, led by DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, were intelligence-driven and targeted identified black spots and criminal hideouts.
On March 25, 2026, police operatives raided Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe Local Government Areas, arresting 59 suspects, including 51 males and 8 females. Recovered substances included codeine, crack cocaine, and Indian hemp. Many targeted hotels were found to be operating as brothels and havens for criminal elements.
The next day, police raided Ughelli, arresting 213 suspects and seizing drugs including Canadian loud, CSC syrup, tramadol, and Indian hemp. All suspects and exhibits have been handed over for investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police reassured the public that culprits would face the law, urging citizens to provide timely and credible information to aid crime prevention.
