lsrael and the US have struck two Iranian nuclear facilities, sparking threats of retaliation from Tehran. The attacks on Friday hit the Khondab heavy water complex and a uranium processing plant in Ardakan, with Iran vowing to exact a “heavy price” for the strikes.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared Washington expects its military operation to conclude within weeks, with Iran weakened. However, Tehran has sent mixed signals, with some reports suggesting they’ve proposed a peace plan with demands, including war reparations and recognition of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
The conflict has escalated, with Iran warning civilians to leave industrial sites and threatening strikes on regional targets. Oil prices surged over 4% amid fears of disrupted Gulf trade. The international community is on edge, with G7 foreign ministers calling for an immediate cessation of attacks and safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah has fired rockets at Israel, drawing Beirut into the conflict. As tensions rise, civilians are paying the price, with over a million displaced in Lebanon and fears of a humanitarian catastrophe.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claim to have closed the Strait of Hormuz, turning back ships, while the US and Israel vow to continue operations. With no clear end in sight, the situation remains volatile and unpredictable.
