Nigeria: APC governors meet in Lagos ahead of party primaries

31 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are holding a crucial meeting in Lagos, ahead of the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for next month. The meeting, hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is taking place at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, and is expected to focus on holding a successful and rancour-free party primaries.
The governors had initially visited President Bola Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence to congratulate him on his successful state visit to the United Kingdom and the Eid-el fitri celebration. The meeting is being presided over by the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Chief Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State.
Some of the key issues for deliberation include aligning state-level policies with the federal government’s agenda, reviewing ongoing reforms, and sharing strategies for improving service delivery amid rising public expectations. Security challenges across different regions of the country are also expected to feature prominently in the discussions.
