Nigeria: Nigerian artists generate over N60 billion on Spotify in 2026

Nigerian artists have made a significant impact on the global music scene, generating over N60 billion in revenue from music streaming on Spotify in 2025. This represents a 140% increase in earnings over the past two years, showcasing the growing global reach and commercial strength of Nigeria’s music industry.

According to Spotify’s annual Loud & Clear report, Nigerian artists recorded 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours on the platform in 2025. The report also noted that Nigerian music continues to attract new audiences, with artists being discovered by first-time listeners over 1.3 billion times, a 26% increase compared to 2024.

Local consumption of Nigerian music has also witnessed a sharp rise, with Nigerian artists accounting for over 80% of tracks on Spotify Nigeria’s Daily Top 50 chart in 2026. Local streams of Nigerian music grew by 170% year-on-year, while streams of independent Nigerian artists rose by 75%.

Managing Director of Spotify in Africa, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, attributed the success to Nigeria’s growing cultural influence in global music, stating, “Nigeria’s music story continues to be one of creativity, innovation, and global cultural influence.
