The rift between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State and members of the National Assembly from the state has intensified over return tickets for the 2027 elections. Allegations suggest Aiyedatiwa is working to stop the nine House of Representatives members and two Senators from getting renominated.

An APC leader claimed Aiyedatiwa met with President Bola Tinubu, citing the lawmakers’ alleged unpopularity and lack of grassroots connection. The governor reportedly sought the president’s understanding to find replacements.

However, another APC leader denied the claim, stating Aiyedatiwa has not endorsed any aspirants. Rep Donald Ojogo, representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, said he is unaware of such a meeting and emphasized having a good relationship with the governor.
