A fatal accident on the Kano-Hadejia road has claimed the lives of seven people, with 70 others injured. The crash involved a commercial vehicle, a DAF trailer, carrying 105 passengers.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident was caused by over-speeding and loss of control, compounded by the vehicle’s goods being mixed with passengers. The injured were taken to four hospitals in Kano for treatment.
The FRSC has warned motorists against reckless driving and the illegal conveyance of passengers in goods vehicles, citing the need for safety-consciousness and compliance with traffic regulations. The Kano State Governor had earlier reported over 30 fatalities, but the FRSC has confirmed seven deaths so far.
