Nigeria: JUST IN: U.S. confirms deployment of first set of troops to Nigeria

The United States has confirmed the deployment of a military team to Nigeria as part of efforts to combat the Islamic State (ISIS), marking the first official acknowledgment of American troops operating on Nigerian soil since U.S. airstrikes targeted ISIS positions in December.

U.S. officials disclosed that the team was sent to support counterterrorism operations, though details about the size, location, and duration of the deployment were not made public.
