Nigeria: Gunmen kill police officer, abduct Chinese expatriate

Gunmen killed a police officer and abducted a Chinese expatriate, the principal officer of Aqua Triton Company, in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, Oyo State. The attack, described as a coordinated, commando-style operation, occurred on Friday, with the police officer fatally shot while repelling the attackers. Some assailants were reportedly injured during the exchange.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident and launched a manhunt, with the Commissioner of Police directing the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and tactical teams to the scene. A bush-combing operation and full investigation are ongoing to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.

In a related development, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Prince Emorioloye Owoloemi, was kidnapped in Ondo State. The Ondo State Police Command has commenced investigations, assuring residents of adequate safety measures.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, arrested 32 suspected kidnappers and other criminals, with 17 linked to kidnapping-related offences.
