Nigeria: Deadly rival cult clash leaves 8 dead

A deadly clash between rival cult groups in Benue State, Nigeria, has resulted in the deaths of eight people, with several others injured. The violence erupted in Makurdi, the state capital, and Jato Aka, in Kwande Local Government Area, as part of a fierce fight for territorial control.
Three people were killed in Makurdi, including Mr. Hundred, Mr. Martins Dagba (also known as Wonder), and Mr. Aondoaseer Yisa (also known as Poka).
Two people were killed in Jato Aka.
Eight suspects have been arrested, including Adebo Mvaater, Pineter Akurayati, Daniel Ese, Samuel Kwaghzer, Isaac Iorapul, Terungwa Tertese, Aondonenge Aper, and Ternenge Aondokura.
The Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area, Mr. Joseph Keffi, has condemned the killings and assured residents of the council’s commitment to ensuring peace.
The Benue State Police Command has deployed additional patrol and tactical teams to the area to arrest fleeing suspects.
