The Lagos State Task Force has arrested 32 people during a statewide operation targeting street activity that officials say was disrupting traffic and causing public nuisance on major highways.

The arrests followed complaints from residents and motorists about individuals stopping vehicles and creating congestion on busy roads.

The enforcement exercise was carried out across both the Island and Mainland as part of the state’s ongoing effort to keep roads clear and improve public safety.

Areas covered during the operation included Apongbon, Fadeyi, Jibowu, Yaba Phase 1, Lagos Island, Palmgrove, Ojuelegba, Surulere, and surrounding routes.

Officials said the suspects were seen unlawfully stopping heavy-duty vehicles such as fuel tankers, trucks, trailers, as well as private cars, causing traffic delays and safety concerns. Some of those arrested were also allegedly found smoking substances suspected to be hard drugs and marijuana.

The task force said the suspects were taken into custody for public nuisance, illegal road obstruction, and violations of transport and environmental laws.

Authorities added that the operation helped restore order in the affected areas, and the arrested individuals have since been charged in court. The task force also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing similar operations across the state to ensure safer and more orderly roads.
