In a shocking incident on Tuesday night, gunmen abducted *Hon. Maruf Musa*, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, while he was observing evening prayers at a mosque inside his compound in Ibiade, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area. The attack occurred around 7 p.m. on December 30, 2025, as the former legislator — who served as the Chief Whip during the 6th Assembly (2007–2011) — knelt in prayer.

According to eyewitnesses, the armed assailants opened fire to scatter residents before forcibly taking Musa away. Several community members sustained injuries during the chaotic episode. Local authorities confirmed that the police have launched an intensive manhunt, deploying the Anti‑Kidnapping Unit and coordinating with community leaders to secure Musa’s safe release.

Ogun State Police spokesperson Babaseyi Boluwatife told TheCable on Wednesday evening that security measures have been activated. “The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the abduction. We have deployed our anti‑kidnapping unit and other operatives to the area. The public is advised to remain calm while we pursue all leads,” he said.

The abduction comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of Ogun State, particularly targeting prominent individuals. No official ransom demand has been reported, and investigations are ongoing.
