GPF Female Network conducts step-down training for Banjul officers, Headquarter

On Thursday February 27th, 2025, The Gambia Police Force (GPF) Female Network successfully conducted a step-down training for 24 officers from Police Headquarters and the Banjul Region.
The training focused on laws against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Child Marriage, and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The session aimed to equip participants with the needed knowledge and skills on FGM, SGBV and Child Marriage.
Chairing the training, Commissioner Amie Nyassi, Chairperson of the Female Network, emphasized the critical role of police officers in enforcing laws against these harmful practices.
She highlighted the need for continuous training to enhance officers’ knowledge and enforcement strategies.
Commissioner Ansumana Kinteh called for broader participation in such training programs, stressing the importance of solidarity among officers in safeguarding national security.
He urged officers to uphold fairness and inclusivity, reinforcing the GPF’s reform agenda for sustainable peace and security.
The training used a game-based learning approach to engage participants in understanding legal frameworks on FGM, Child Marriage, and SGBV, ensuring an interactive and impactful learning experience.
